Electronics recycling in Woodland Park!
Thanks to a new partnership between Blue Star Recyclers, the Woodland Park High School SOS club, and RE-2 school district, recycling in Woodland Park is taking a BIG step forward, with a partnership that expands electronics recycling efforts in our community, and generates funds for vocational training of students. Great news!

UPDATE: as of 1/1/16 recycling is (unfortunately) no longer free. The cost is now $5.00 a load.
Want to know what you can (and can’t!) recycle at Waste Management’s Divide Transfer Station? Check the attached PDF (click here). Remember (as of this writing) recycling at the transfer station is free – $5.00 a load – for residents of Woodland Park and Teller County.

“Sadly Wal-mart and Waste Management are suspending the recycling drop-off station at the Woodland Park Wal-mart on Friday, June 8 due to abuse of this free-of-charge service. Disrespectful patrons have been dropping off household garbage, waste oil, and numerous other things that can’t be recycled and ruin those items that can be recycled. Employees of both companies have to clean up after these messy people. This valuable service will be missed and we hope that a plan can be created that will bring it back soon.”
How sad that such a small percentage of our population had such a destructive impact on our recycling efforts. As a result, all of us lost access to our free community recycling center. We thank both Walmart and Waste Management for their patience and effort … they tried and tried and tried again, as did Teller County Waste before them. Unfortunately far too many treated the recycling center as their personal dumping ground.
For those committed to recycling, take note that Waste Management’s transfer station in downtown Divide is accepting recyclables, and as of this writing. dropping off recyclables is free. In addition, both Waste Management & Teller County Waste offer curbside recycling for a fee.
Join Woodland Park High School’s SOS Club and Blue Star Recyclers for their 5th annual electronics recycling event on May 5.
Get rid of those unwanted TVs, computers, audio/video equipment, and small appliances by recycling them! Event runs from 10am-2pm on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the high school parking lot, 151 N. Baldwin in Woodland Park. All proceeds from the event go to the SOS Club & help Blue Star create jobs for resident with disabilities in the Pikes Peak Region. Did you know that El Paso County hosts a FREE hazardous waste recycling facility open to El Paso County AND Teller County residents?
They accept a HUGE number of items including: paints, solvents, thinners, household cleaners, lawn & garden chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides), antifreeze, used motor oil, batteries of all kinds, fluorescent lights, electronics, and even old prescription medications.
